WHAT IS Peak PERFORMANCE TRAINING?

Teaching mental skills and concepts to help athletes perform consistently, touching on: energy management, focus and attentional control, improved communication, goal setting, use of imagery and visualization, self-talk, team building, time management and organization.

Why is Peak Performance Training important?

Peak performance training enables better and more consistent performance on and off the field, as well as improved mental health. It complements technical, tactical and physical training to ensure our players are supported as athletes and as people.

The skills learned through this program bring benefits outside of soccer. Peak performance skills transfer directly and in powerful ways to life situations such as taking tests, giving presentations, interviewing for a job, and maintaining healthy relationships. Building mental skills helps our athletes regulate their emotions, overcome their fears and anxieties, break unhealthy habits and build healthy habits!

HOW IS PEAK PERFORMANCE BEING IMPLEMENTED?

  • Team sessions working on goal setting, team ethos, energy management and other concepts and skills

  • Coach education on the benefits and how to supplement peak performance development in training and games

  • Parent education on benefits and how to support peak performance skills development off the field
